Congratulations to the April Middle School and High School Students of the Month!
Middle School:
Peyton Klimek and Jocelyn Schaffran
High School:
Kira Quinn and Donell Lee
What Staff have to say about the students of the month:
- Peyton puts a great effort into his classwork, volunteers to read or answer questions daily, is willing to work with anyone and helps his table partner. He is respectful and is a good leader in the classroom.
- Jocelyn always has a positive attitude, works hard, asks questions, is respectful, and is such a calming presence in my classroom.
- Kira works hard in class and asks questions to get better. She always has her work completed and will email or stop in for help whenever needed. She has one of the best attitudes towards learning.
- Donell, despite the hurdles he has faced this semester, has continued to keep his grade up in a very tough chemistry class.

Congratulations to Deb Berry, an Early Childhood Teacher at Lakes Country Service Cooperative (LCSC), for receiving the Innovative Programming Award for 2024 from the Minnesota Association for Family and Early Education (MNAFEE).
The Raising a Reader Early Literacy Program, which is a testament to our commitment to innovative education, was piloted by Deb Berry in Brandon-Evansville and has been recognized as a winner of the MNAFEE Innovative Programming Award for 2024.
The program is based on a national model that involves reading, take-home book bags, and school-based parent-child activities. Beth Achter, LCSC’s ECFE regional coordinator, and Deb Berry, who played a key role in developing the Brandon-Evansville pilot program, accepted the award. In addition to Deb Berry’s award, in May, 12 local Raising a Reader program supporters will receive a certificate from MNAFEE for their support of the program.
